Root Vegan Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem in Lancaster, offering top-quality vegan and gluten-free fare. Their seasonal menu and classic favorites cater to every taste, while their selection of vegan wines and beers adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The attentive staff and inviting ambiance make this restaurant a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional vegan dining experience.
My husband and I were celebrating our 13 year anniversary and we were looking for a place to eat. Unfortunately the Lancaster area that we happen to be in did not offer many vegan friendly options to dine in. Lucky for us we came across this restaurant through the happy cow app and thank goodness we did. The staff greeted us with a warm and friendly smile as soon as we walked in the door. I am newly vegan and have found it difficult to find restaurants that serve great tasting vegan food. I was a bit reluctant at first because I find at times the reviews you find online do not match the experience you receive in person. The experience my husband and I had was amazing and we will definitely be coming back again.
Root is a cozy bar and vegan restaurant. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, it was not crowded, and the waitress was attentive and very pleasant. The food was excellent. Try the tofu fish and chips, they
are unique and very tasty. There seems to be a limiter number of vegan places in the Lancaster area, and to find one that is a bar and restaurant was a pleasure.
It was delicious! We had a great meal for lunch here around 11:40am. Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating. The cowboy caviar is something I’ve wanted to try for quite some time now, and I’m so glad I did! Great atmosphere. Pricing not bad. Would definitely come back and I recommend!
My husband and I really loved this place!!
We got there kind of late on a Friday night and were going to just order takeout, but the server informed us it was fine and we had plenty of time. Very unusual for a restaurant about to close within the hour.
We tried the Buffalo Bites for an appetizer and I cannot recommend them enough. The ranch dressing is homemade and the best I've ever had!
For our meals we tried the Crispy Tofu special (cornmeal crusted tofu, creamed greens and a quinoa pilaf) as well as the Avocado Reuben which was piled high on delicious bread. Both were wonderful!
And let's talk prices! Where we live these meals would easily cost double the prices at Root and the food was so good we would have gladly paid it. But everything was $10. It is mind blowing that food this good can also be so reasonably priced!
There were only 2 servers, but they worked so well as a team and kept everything going smoothly, you could tell they really loved what they do and that made for such a good vibe!
Definitely don't skip this spot if you're in Lancaster!
I love eating at Root. It's nice to go to a completely vegan establishment, it definitely makes me at ease. Their food is delicious, my personal favorite item is the chickpea patty. I enjoy getting the chance to try whatever is on their rotating menu. Also, their brunch is amazing when they decide to have it occasionally.
Great environment. Great customer service. There is nothing to complain about. Had the impossible burger and French fries and squash garlic chips! Taste like a typical meat burger, which was great, and the squash chips tasted like fried banana chips. I will be going back.
We came here after the American Rail Bike and it was refreshing to have great food and service! Our waitress Jenny was spectacular! Jenny was attentive, friendly, and bubbly. When taking our drink orders, I told Jenny that I like fruity beers and she took it upon herself to give me a sample of a few different beers she thought I would like. I thought that was very kind of her to do that for me without asking! Their specials of the day are fresh and delicious.
The ambiance of Root is very chill and laidback. The artwork they have on the walls is really cool to look at. I recommend coming to this place for some great vegan food!
